In April, advertising platforms introduced new updates for businesses and advertisers. Some of the top players were Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Reddit. Read all about their new products in this April 2025 digital marketing news. 

1. Apple rebrands ‘Search Ads’ to ‘Apple Ads’

  • Apple Ads expands its Search Ads to Apple Ads for advertisers to earn more revenue from more sources. 
  • The ad feature now appears on the Today tab and ‘You Might Also Like’ sections on apps. 
  • There are speculations that Apple Ads may also expand to Apple TV.

2. Court rules Google has illegal ad monopoly 

  • A US court recently ruled that Google has engaged in illegal advertising monopoly practices in an antitrust suit against the US Department of Justice. 
  • The ad tech giant argued that people prefer their product because it is simple and effective yet they lot on two counts. 
  • While Google will be appealing, stakeholders believe that this decision will lead to structural changes in the digital advertising market.

3. Google releases ad strength guide

  • Google releases a new document to guide advertisers on best practices for text assets to maximise performance. 
  • It includes a table for campaign type, minimum, recommended, and maximum requirements for assets. 
  • Advertisers can use the Ad strength indicator in the “Edit assets” panel to check if an Asset group has the potential for success.

4. Microsoft updates Monetize with AI Copilot

  • Microsoft updates its Monetize feature with the Copilot AI integration. 
  • Advertisers now have an AI assistant that answers and alerts them on creative and revenue issues so they can spend more time on revenue strategies. 
  • Monetize now has a centralised homepage and a simplified navigation experience. 
  • With the new history change log, they can view the history of adjustments made to campaigns by the team.

5. Performance Max set to have more goals and image controls

  • Google announces new customer lifecycle goals on Performance Max with the retention and customer acquisition goals. 
  • Advertisers now have more image assets and an option to add enhancements to campaign images. 
  • Google also increased the negative keywords limit to 10,000.

6. Reddit Business Manager launches new Partners page

  • Reddit Business Manager is now letting advertisers partner with other businesses with their new Partners page. 
  • Users can advertise as their partners for a co-branded campaign or their credit line to their agency for direct billing. 
  • The new feature also allows advertising agencies to execute campaigns on their clients’ behalf.

7. BeReal sets to begin ads

  • BeReal announced it will begin displaying ads in-feed with its dual-camera style. 
  • The app reveals to TechCrunch that it has 40 million monthly active users, 85% of whom are Gen Z. 
  • BeReal has tested ads with Amazon, Levi’s and Netflix in preparation for its full launch.

8. Google improves support experiences

  • Google Ads Liaison Ginny Marvin states that the ad giant is taking steps to improve the support experiences for businesses and advertisers. 
  • The efforts include scalable support, insights, and guidance to address their needs. 
  • Another key component is their effort to reduce account suspensions.

9. Google updates unfair advantage policy

  • Google updated its unfair advantage policy on April 14, 2025. 
  • The platform now allows displaying more than one ad at the same time as long as it is from different locations. 
  • A violation will lead to a warning, which may result in suspension for at least seven days.

10. Reddit launches two new tools

  • Reddit launched two new tools: Campaign Import and Simplified Campaign Quality Assurance (QA).
  • Campaign Import allows advertisers to import campaigns directly from Meta into Reddit Ads Manager.
  • Campaign Quality Assurance (QA) provides a centralised review page for campaigns’ budgets, targeting, placements, or creatives.

11. Roblox announces new ad format and Google partnership

  • Roblox announced a new video advertising format which allows gamers to watch ads  for boosts, lifelines or resources in a particular game. 
  • Businesses and agencies can purchase this form of advertising directly or through Google. 
  • This update is important to ensure gamers have an immersive experience in the app itself.

12. Google launches marketing content usage

  • Google launches marketing content usage, allowing them to display your content or information in pages such as Search, Shopping, and Maps. 
  • Such content includes links to primary social media channels, highlighted social media content, upcoming or current sales and promotions, brand images and videos, and brand voice and values. 
  • You can opt out of this stage by clicking General account options in the Merchant Center, and scrolling to
  • “Marketing content usage” and select Do not share data.

13. Meta introduces ads in Threads

  • Meta is testing ads with a small group of advertisers in Threads to help businesses reach more audience. 
  • These will be image ads in Threads home feed and advertisers will be able to extend their Meta ad campaigns to Threads. 
  • Meta is also testing inventory filter for ads so that users can control the sensitivity level of the content their ads display next to.

14. Google Ads introduces search ads on the lower page

  • Google Ads is now allowing advertisers with ads at the top page to compete to show relevant ads at the bottom page to improve relevance. 
  • This update produced 10% more relevant ads and 14% more conversions while improving user experience. 
  • Advertisers cannot display the same ad in both locations, as Google only shows the most relevant search ad for each placement.
