4 Ways to PinPoint your Targeting with Google Ads Custom Service

Over the years, there have been a lot of new features in Google Ads, and whilst some did not work, we are embracing and exploring the new features. Like every other skill you acquire, you have to keep evolving, learning new ways of getting better results, and trying different things.

Amongst the features that have relatively changed in Google Ads are the types of Targeting Options on Display Network and particularly Affinity Audiences and Custom Intent Audience which have combined into Custom Audiences.

Rather than just choosing from a proposed list of options from Google, we are enabled to create our own audience based on their interest and in some instances, their search history… Amazing right?  

Well, since these features have been made available on Google Ads, Custom Audiences has been my most preferred option and I would take you through the process of getting it right….

To get more strategic and detailed with your Custom Target Audience, try this:

 

  • People who browse types of websites: Below the keyword section, there is a new header that says “Expand audience by also including” which is then followed by a list of three additional types of targeting. At this stage, Google needs you to provide URL links of websites often visited by your audience. Although, this is not the only way to target those specific websites placements but rather to capitalize on the audience insights from those sites to find new users. If you know the sites your audience visit, use that as your tool and get them stuck!

 

  • People who have visited certain places: This is pretty straightforward, so let’s dive in… This option is focused on the places/ websites recently visited by your audience. There are going to be various categories of physical locations rather than individual places but these can be tremendously useful depending on your audience.

 

  • Interest and Behaviour Targeting: This is the commonest way of creating an audience list. In this stage, your aim is to target people based on their interests and behavior by leveraging similar keywords to find users who have been either searching for your products or services or have shown interest in a product or service on Google. For example: If you are trying to target users who are interested in logistics or delivery, you might type in something like “delivery services” and then Google would show you some other phrases you could use based on what they have seen your potential clients searched for.
  • People who have visited certain places: Yaas! Here is the last step in securing that bag and I would share the last tip in getting your targeting right. This last option is focused on the places/ websites recently visited by your audience. There are going to be various categories of physical locations rather than individual places but these can be tremendously useful depending on your audience.
